2 SEO Mistakes That Could Hurt Your Google Ranking

Search engine optimization (SEO) is a bit of a fine art. You need a better keyword strategy

Keywords are words and phrases that are used in your website content that helps the search engine crawlers know what your website is about — and your chosen keywords should be words and phrases that are commonly typed into the Google search bar when someone is looking for a business like yours.  For example, if you own an interior design firm, you may use keyword phrases such as home interior design or living room design.

It’s also worth noting that the keywords that people use to search for a business can change gradually or suddenly, which means that you may need to update your terms and phrases from time to time.

You’re not adding new content

Once the search engine crawlers understand what your website is about, they also want to make sure your website is still relevant. For example, if a dental practice went out of business 2 years ago, but the website is still active, Google won’t want to send users to that site.

The best way to signal that your website is still relevant (and your business is still open) is to add new content. Are we suggesting you constantly add new web pages? No. But we are suggesting that you add (and keep) a regular blog. Not only will blogging about topics that are relevant to your business give you an opportunity to add fresh content (and keywords) to your website, if your blogs get shared on social media (which then leads to more page visits), this can also help your SEO ranking.
