In our last blog, we talked about some of the glaring signs that it’s time to redesign your website—but the list was by no means comprehensive. For this week’s post, we wanted to highlight 5 more signs it’s time to redo your website.
It’s text heavy
Does your website have more words than images? Websites that are text heavy are a huge turnoff to visitors. Why? First, no one wants to scroll through multiple paragraphs to find what they’re looking for. Second, text-heavy websites are visually overwhelming. If your visitors don’t hang out to read what you’ve written, your message can (and will) get lost. (Fact: text-heavy websites tend to have terrible bounce rates—which is harmful to their SEO ranking.)
Your content isn’t what it could be
Your website’s copy should be well-written, engaging, and cleverly scripted. If you wrote the copy yourself, it might be OK, but there’s a good chance it can be better. For example—if your content is rife with misspellings, run-on sentences, and the subject matter is all over the map (and not directly related to who you are, what you do, and why your product or service is a better choice than what’s being offered by your competitors), it’s probably time to redo it.
It’s hard to navigate
There are certain pages on every website that should be easy to find—including who you are (About Us), what you do (Products and Services), and how people can reach you (Contact Us.) If one or more of these pages is hard to find, this is a red flag that your website needs a redesign.
Your website doesn’t rank on the first page of a Google search
It doesn’t matter if you have the best product at the best price—if your customers can’t find your website, your website isn’t doing you any favors. Websites that have a low search engine ranking don’t appear on the first page of Google searches—and it’s worth noting that roughly 95% of people who do a Google search, never click past the first page.
