15 May A Quick SEO Checklist for Your Website
Is your website ranking as high as it should? If not, it’s probably because your website isn’t fully optimized for search engines.
SEO is an important component of any digital marketing success. You want your website to be seen and appear high on search engine results pages so more people click through to you. Solid SEO is one way to make that happen.
Here is a quick checklist you can follow to make sure your content that you put on your website is optimized for search engines.
- The Title Tag
Create a title tag between 50-60 characters that has your focus keyword – the main keyword of the content – in it.
- The Meta Description
Create a description between 150-160 characters that summarizes your content and has the focus keyword in it.
- Content Keywords
Be sure your content is keyword-rich. Focus on one keyword and try to incorporate it between 4-6 percent of the content on your page.
Place at least one cross-link (a link from one page to another page on your website) in your content. Consider an external link for more helpful info for your visitors.
- The Alt Tag
Make sure all pictures have alt tags, or alternative text complete with your keyword, so Google can scan them.
- The Page URL
Make sure your page URL has the focus keyword in them, with hyphens only (no underscores or spaces).
Break up your content into sections with bold headers, preferably with keywords in them.
In addition, make sure your content is helpful and engaging. That is the only way you can get links from other websites to the content – people should want to share it because it’s helpful or entertaining.
Follow this quick checklist to get started on making sure every page of content is fully optimized for SEO purposes.
