12 Aug Analyzing Results from Moz’s 2015 Search Engine Rankings Factors 2015 Study

To help, the folks at Moz put together a Search Engine Rankings Factor 2015 report that discusses several key factors for ranking and ranking well. The study takes results from 150 pros in the industry and examines data points that help pinpoint what we can do to better SEO this year.
First, we’ll take a look at what factors these 150 industry professionals think most influences the Google algorithm. They ranked these factors from 0 to 10. Coming in at the very top, with a 8.22 score, was domain-level link features. Right behind at 8.19 was page-level link features.
As you could imagine, keywords on the page are important, and the experts agreed; page-level keyword and content-based features came in at a 7.87. Those are the three most important factors from the pros.
We’ll break each of those down.
Domain-level link features: This includes the number of links to your domain, how much Google trusts your domain, the domain’s PageRank, Domain Authority, etc. More links and more positive citations from credible sources is good.
Page-level link features: Your individual pages’ PageRank, quantity of linking root domains, anchor text, quality of linking sources, etc.
Page-level keyword and content-based features: Content length, how readable your content is, pages optimized for keywords, content quality and quantity, etc. This refers to your content and your keywords on the page.
There aren’t any earth-shattering revelations from this study. It largely confirms many of the best practices that we practice with our SEO services in Florida. You want to have solid on-page optimization, with a SEO-friendly website infrastructure. A bit surprisingly is that links are still important and still carry weight, even if some in the industry have claimed otherwise.
