Does Your Company Need a Digital Marketing Strategy?

Does Your Company Need a Digital Marketing Strategy?

The modern world is becoming increasingly digital, and today, most people search for products or services online. Whereas your parents (and grandparents) often had a Yellow Pages hiding around the house, today, that book is a lot less relevant.

So what does this mean for your small business? A lot— because if you don’t have a digital marketing strategy, you’re likely losing business to your competitors.

What if my website has already been SEO optimized?

As we’ve noted in the past, SEO isn’t a one-shot process. It’s something that needs to be maintained.  For example, keywords and keyword phrases can often change over time. If these changes aren’t being monitored, keywords that helped you rank well 2 years ago may now get you a second-page ranking today.

The same holds true for other SEO strategies. Ten years ago, the search engine crawlers ranked websites based on a different set of factors than they do today. Since the things that can help (or hurt) your SEO ranking are constantly changing, your SEO strategy needs to adapt.

What if I’m comfortable with print ads?

If you still want to allocate some of your marketing budget for print, you can do that, but a comprehensive digital marketing strategy will give you more bang for your buck.  Digital marketing avenues consist of everything from content marketing, blogging, and paid advertisements (such as banner ads, social media ads, and YouTube ads, among others.)

One of the greatest things about digital marketing is that it’s trackable and measurable, and you’ll have analytics for everything.  Not only will you know how often an ad has been viewed, you’ll know exactly how many people clicked on it.  This allows you real-time tracking of the strategies that are netting you an ROI as opposed to the ones that aren’t. If something isn’t working, you can pull back, regroup, and strategize.

Print ads, on the other hand, don’t provide you with real-time feedback. (They also tend to be a lot more expensive!)

The world is evolving- and your marketing strategy needs to evolve alongside it. Today, more than 75% of Americans own a mobile device. Google estimates their search engine processes roughly 63,000 searches every second. Suffice to say, if you don’t have a digital marketing strategy, you should.
