14 Dec Top SEO Trends for 2019, Part 1
Establishing a relationship with the search engines can be tricky; maintaining that relationship can be even harder, especially when you consider that the landscape for SEO is constantly changing.
Just when you think you have a handle on the most recent update, the rules (and algorithms) change all over again. For some, it can feel as if they’re trying to hit a moving target.
For this blog post, we wanted to take a moment to discuss some of the dominating SEO trends for 2019.
Things that are evergreen
Although there are some SEO trends that appear, disappear and reappear, there are a few that seem to be perennial green. This includes things like creating high-quality, educational content, link-building and having some focus on keywords. We also expect that the importance of having a website that’s mobile-optimized isn’t going to go away anytime soon (or ever.)
Things that will ding you
In the early days of SEO, it was all about figuring out your target keywords and then using those keywords (and keyword phrases) as often as possible. Today, keyword stuffing is going to ding you. Using duplicate content, link farming and intrusive advertising will also take your website’s ranking down a few notches.
Things that are new:
- Voice searches: There are a few changes that are on the horizon for 2019, the first of which relates to voice searching. Data shows that by the year 2020, roughly half of all Internet searches will be voice based. What does this mean to the average business owner? Well, it means you’ll want to make sure your website is optimized for local voice search; you’ll also want to make sure your website is optimized for conversational keywords. If this isn’t something you think you can handle on your own, a digital marketing agency can help guide you.
- Circling back to video: In our previous blog post we talked about the benefits of adding video to your website- but when you add that video, you’ll want to take some time and do video keyword research.Experts estimate that by the year 2020, roughly 75% of netizen traffic will be made up of videos. It’s also estimated that companies that use videos in their digital marketing strategy get more than 40% more web traffic than companies that don’t.
