05 Aug Two Digital Marketing Trends That Are Worth Watching in 2020
Digital marketing trends change constantly. For example, things that used to boost your SEO in the past (ie: keyword stuffing) can now harm your ranking. It is also worth noting that today’s websites not only need to have a responsive design, which means your website can be viewed easily on a desktop, smartphone or tablet, those that are optimized for voice search (ie: Alexa & “Hey Siri”) tend to rank better.
If you’re not a digital marketing guru, it can be a lot to keep up with. For this post, we wanted to discuss two of this year’s top trends.
Circling back to voice search optimization
According to current research, more than half of adults have used voice search, and the numbers are rising steadily with each passing year. Nearly 112 million people in the US use it monthly, and roughly 27% of the global population is using voice search on their phones.
The most searched for items include music (ie: Hey Siri, play Fleetwood Mac songs), information about the weather forecast, news, and general online queries. However, many people are also using voice search to help them find restaurants, florists and other types of service providers.
If you have yet to optimize your website for voice search and you have questions about how to do it (and why it’s important), call our office today for a free consult.
One of the many things that search engine crawlers pay attention to is something called dwell rate. Translated to English, the dwell rate refers to how much time visitors spend on your website. The longer they spend there, the better your ranking will be. (In contrast, if you’re attracting lots of visitors, but no one stays, that’s going to hurt you.) In 2020, many website owners have started to use interactive content to both attract visitors and get them to stay for a bit. Examples of interactive content include polls and surveys, calculators, and quizzes.
