25 Aug What is internet design? Why is it important?
Today, most people start their search for a product or service online. Recent studies have found that more than 65% of people initiate a search using a search engine, and that more than 60% of digital marketing firms say that organic traffic (i.e., traffic to your website that’s generated by your SEO efforts), as opposed to paid ads, generate the most leads.
So what does all of this have to do with internet design? A lot, actually.
Your website is the first impression that consumers have of your business
Let’s say you own a car dealership, and your largest competitor is located next door. Now, imagine you both carry the exact same inventory. If your showroom is dirty, outdated, and cluttered, whereas your competition’s showroom is sparkling clean and is loaded with technology, which dealership do you think will get the most business?
It’s not a perfect example but you get our gist. Your website design can leave a lasting impression so you’ll want to make sure you do everything you can to put your best foot forward. It’s also worth noting that internet design (and website design) trends are constantly changing.
For example, 15 years ago, websites often had music embedded on their landing page. That fad died almost as quickly as it began. Color schemes that were popular in years past have also changed. Loud, bold landing pages are also less attractive now than they were 10 years ago.
Good website design can help improve your SEO
Whether you realize it or not, your website can make or break your SEO strategy. Is your website optimized for mobile? Namely, can your website be viewed just as easily on a handheld device as it can be viewed on your computer? Or, on the other hand, if you pull up your website on a smartphone, does it have the visual equivalent of trying to force a square peg through a round hole? A website that’s not mobile-friendly can harm your SEO.
The speed of your website (i.e., how quickly it loads), can also have a huge impact on your SEO ranking.
