Blogging- Why You Still Need to Do it
Every small business owner well tell you there are parts of the business they love, and parts of the business they love less.
For some, keeping up with their website’s blog can be a pain in the you-know-where. They might wonder if people really read the blog or whether the time they spend writing it is worth the return on investment. After all, every minute spent writing web content is a minute less you have to focus on other aspects of your business.
Blogging may not be on your top 5 list of favorite things you have to do every week, but it’s a lot more important than you think.
Blogs add fresh content to your website
We’ve used different versions of the following analogy in the past, but we feel like it gets the point across.
Imagine you’re hosting a dinner party and you’re on a mission to find French bread. Your friend tells you about a neighborhood that has two bakeries that are located next door to one another. When you arrive, you notice that workers in the shop on left, rotate its window inventory every time something new comes out of the oven. However, the shop on the right looks like nothing about it has been updated in ages. The paint is old, the trim is peeling and even though the lights are on, you’re not entirely sure it’s open.
Which bakery are you going to choose?
At this point, you may be wondering what this has to do with SEO. Well, it has a lot to do with it.
Search engine algorithms give favor to websites that are “fresh” and are updated on a regular basis. If yours hasn’t been touched in you can’t remember how long, you’re not doing yourself any favors. In this case, the algorithms will see your site as being stale and that’s going to harm your ability to land on the front-page of a Google search.
It’s OK to outsource
